The Role
As our Senior Manager, Web Development at CentralNic, you will ensure that all our websites across the group are state of the art and fulfill all requirements from our Marketing teams and present us in a professional way. You will ensure that we consolidate our different approaches for hosting and maintaining our websites by picking the right framework and CMS for this purpose. In order to do so, you will also work closely with other software and system engineer leads.
You will manage teams that work mostly remotely and are spread over multiple countries. Whilst teams are working in an agile way as Scrum teams you always have to stay on top of things and keep track of things.
You will take ownership of the roadmaps, timeframes, and tasks in cooperation with the Product Manager. The successful applicant will be expected to lead by example with a roll-up your sleeves, a hands-on attitude.
This role will ideally be based in Germany, France or the UK, however we are working remotely at the moment but will be taking a hybrid approach post-pandemic.
Key outcomes of the role will include:
- Accountable for all aspects of the development of our websites and other online tools
- Translate business requirements into online experience, working closely with marketing and content creators to ensure accurate and successful production releases
- Comprehensive understanding of all the requisite underlying systems and connections that support the functioning of all sites, including connections to product database and internal API's
- Cooperate to connect web site/CMS software development with expert backend team
- Oversee and manage the Web Development Team (Squad) that is in charge of developing our existing and new web sites
- Managing the team to ensure that group engineering standards and best practices are followed
- Ensure that we use modern engineering standards and tools as well as set up plans in order to constantly reduce our technical debt. Be open-minded and always up for the modernization of our systems. Especially cloud-based approach will be become more and more important and have to be considered where applicable
- Ensuring that we have the right talent and skills within the engineering team in order to fulfill our mission. Identify gaps and define plans if the team is behind expectations
- Provide support to the Product Teams and other development teams
- Define KPI’s and ensure that we have the right metrics in place in order to check against expectations
About you
- Demonstrates and take actions to continuously develop and grow
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry and technology developments

Experience and skills that will help you succeed
- Strong experience as a Web Developer in either Wordpress or Kirby
- Some experience working with modern JavaScript frameworks, e.g., Angular or React.Js
- Experience integrating with REST APIs
- Experience with HTML / CSS / TypeScript and common deployment mechanisms and tools (GitHub/GitLab/SVN, etc)
- Strong understanding of latest best practices for site performance and optimization
- High level of comfort building responsive websites and applications
- Strong grasp of design principles and visual layout
- Strong technical background on how to set up and build modern cloud-based (AWS) applications
- Experience in defining and measuring OKR’s
- Previous experience of leading a team

The Process
Our process will consist of an initial phone screen conversation over video via Google Meet with a member of our People team to make sure your expectations of the role are aligned with the business needs. There will then be the first round which will be a competency-based interview with the Hiring Manager and a member of the team.

Location
